Classic Game Room HD - DAYTONA USA for Sega Saturn

Classic Game Room HD reviews DAYTONA USA for the Sega Saturn video game console. DAYTONAAAAAAAAAA, YEAH! This Sega produced arcade driving racing game was released originally in 1994 as a coin-op machine and saw its debut on the Sega Saturn as a launch title in 1995. It is an arcade racing game, not a simulation game like Gran Turismo 5 or Ferrari Challenge. Drive one of one stock car looking cars around several different tracks. Daytona USA may not have much in the way of heavy hitting graphics but it does have awesome, fun gameplay and terrific replay value. The music is insane and reminds CGRHD or BWP (Bitches with Problems) the all girl rap act from the late 80's. Rock out to the music and drive like a maniac in Daytona USA from Sega! This Daytona USA review has gameplay footage from the game showing the racing driving and pop-in with the graphics. Sega later released an enhanced version of Daytona on the Saturn. Classic Game Room HD is your source for Sega Saturn reviews and CGRHD is a Sega Saturn reviewer reviewing Sega Saturn games like Daytona USA, Radiant Silvergun and Panzer Dragoon reviews (soon... well, someday.)

Classic Game Room HD - SEGA SATURN console review

Classic Game Room HD reviews the Sega Saturn video game console! Released in 1995 to the US market, this 1996 vintage Sega Saturn shows the pure solid construction and beauty of this underrated and nearly forgotten game console. Sega purists know about the Saturn of course, as well as the Master System, Dreamcast and Sega Genesis. But what about everyone else? This is the game system that has Panzer Dragoon and Darius Gaiden and Radiant Silvergun! The Sega Saturn has awesome controllers and plays games from Japan with a 4 in 1 converter and memory card. The Saturn has Virtua Fighter 2 and Daytona USA! What happened to make the Saturn die off so soon when so much potential was left untapped. The Saturn is remembered by many as a SHMUP video game system with awesome 2D rendering and gameplay, perhaps that is its lasting shining legacy. Watch the Classic Game Room hardware review of the Sega Saturn game system with HD footage of the console in high definition. Play import shooters on the Sega Saturn with ease and all of the awesome Western releases, all being reviewed by CGRHD.

Classic Game Room HD - MY AQUARIUM for Nintendo Wii WiiWare

Classic Game Room HD reviews MY AQUARIUM for the Nintendo Wii video game console. This review of WiiWare has gameplay and footage of My Aquarium, called Blue Ocean in Japan. See the fish list and learn about unlockable fish and items. How do you unlock fish in My Aquarium, what are the conditions to be met to unlock fish in My Aquarium? This are questions you'll have to learn by playing this game. My Aquarium from Hudson was released in 2008 and is a virtual aquarium fish tank. Released on the Nintendo VC Virtual Console this game is more of a background kind of game that you check up on every day and feed the fish, see how they're doing and so on. You can't slaughter the fish like you can in Seaman on the Sega Dreamcast (now that was a good game!) This is a cool game for kids and CGRHD gives My Aquarium a good review in that context, it isn't reviewed as highly for those of you who want to slaughter hordes of enemies with laser guns. We direct you to Gears or Resistance for that. If you like fish but don't want to clean up their mess try My Aquarium from Nintendo Wii Virtual Console Wiiware. CGRHD reviews Nintendo Wii games and is a WiiWare reviewer.

Classic Game Room HD - XENOPHOBE for NES review

Classic Game Room HD reviews XENOPHOBE for the Nintendo Entertainment System NES video game console from 1988! This unique mulitplayer side scroller saw many versions on home consoles after the arcade 3-player machine became popular. This 2 player game from Sunsoft (the arcade machine was Bally Midway) loses much in its translation to the NES. Is it still an enjoyable game to collect and play today? After the popularity of James Cameron's (writer director) ALIENS in 1986 Alien stuff was everywhere! This game was clearly inspired by the film and it shows in many ways. Waste Xenos (or Xenomorphs as they're called in the movie) with a small variety of weapons in repetitive levels. Frankly the arcade game was a lot more fun than this, but the Classic Game Room review of Xenophobe shows gameplay and footage from the game that may be to your liking. Classic Game Room is the retro reviewer reviewing NES games from Nintendo in the 1980's and Sega Genesis, Atari 2600, Colecovision and more. Don't suffer from xenophobia (not Xenaphobia, that's fear of Xena the Warrior Princess. We all suffer from that)

Uzebox Full Color Open Source Game Console (Only two chips used!)

The Uzebox is a homebrew game console based on an Atmel AVR microcontroller. The design goal was to be simple to assemble for any hobbyist and have great sound and graphics with absolute minimum hardware: an AtMega644 microcontroller, an AD725 RGB-to-NTSC converter...and a bunch of resistors!

You get 256 simultaneous colors, 240x224 (40x28 tiles) graphics, a 4 channels sound engine with MIDI driver, NES joysticks ports and a MIDI IN input to compose your own songs straight on the console. The kernel is fully interrupt driven to generates video sync, mix music, read joypads, etc. so games can be written in plain C, no insane cycle counting required :D !

Considering this is an 8-bit general purpose microcontroller with only 4K of RAM and 64k of ROM (and no external RAM or frame buffer), it was quite a challenge to cram all that stuff in there. The site has the schematic and all code is open source. The hardware well...is open hardware! Have a look at the forums for updates (fully assembled Uzebox soon available in well know web shops!).

For now, I've completed a Tetris DS clone for the console.

Enjoy!
